Five years ago, young Alexander Garcia was looking at his options for higher education. Like most students, funding was a primary concern.
"ICB's support was part of the reason I was able to attend Western Washington University, where I discovered my interest in public administration and transit planning," Garcia explains. After graduating with his BA, Garcia was able to go on to attend Florida State University to pursue his Masters in Transportation Planning.
"Because I was able to start my college career on the right foot, I have been able to take advantage of remarkable opportunities," Garcia says. He was selected for internships with the Whatcom Transportation Authority in Bellingham, at StarMetro in Tallahassee, Florida, and at Tri Met in Portland, Oregon. He has also been named a Dwight D. Eisenhower Graduate Transportation Fellowship recipient from the Federal Highway Administration.
"I am very lucky to have found a career where I can both do something I love and give back to my community," Garcia says.
ICB is proud to support the work of public service-minded students such as Alexander Garcia through scholarships and community support.
Congratulations to this Outstanding Graduate!
