"Her world will never be the same again."

That’s what the Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding Center means to children and adults with disabilities. Transformation. "There’s just something magical about helping someone find their first connection with a horse," says Rising Stars Executive Director Marni Porath. "Suddenly, you’re part of something big and powerful and enabling. It truly changes lives in ways nothing else can."

Local businesses see how special this work is, and that’s why they got behind the second annual "Ride Em - Race Em - Run Em Challenge" held on Saturday, August 13 at the Magic Mountain Ski Area. Participants entered one event as an individual or put together a team to compete in multiple events, which included a horseback obstacle course, mountain biking, and a 5 or10K run/walk. A Tri-Tip dinner and auction was held at the end of the day’s competition.

Funds raised in this "Not So Extreme" Outdoor Challenge go to underwrite the work of Rising Stars, which provides therapeutic riding and hippotherapy to disabled individuals of all ages for low to no charge.

Magic Valley Bank branch manager Monica Youree was proud to offer her bank’s support to the Rising Stars. "This is a wonderful example of how a community can work together to take care of each other, and have a great time doing it." Magic Valley staff was also among the crew of event volunteers.

"We depend upon our volunteers and the generosity of our community to keep this vital service available," Marni says."Business underwriting of our events means that every dollar raised can help us put more horses and riders together, for miraculous results."
